Week 11

 Week 11

Thank you to all the parents who helped with our Halloween parties! It was a very fun day:)

Reminder: Thursday and Friday are ½ days this week

What’s Up?

  • In math we are working on addition and subtraction fluency within 10

  • We will continue to build our understanding that the location of the equal sign can vary. (10= 7 +3  or 7+3=10)

  • Students are becoming adept at using the word “unknown” when discussing math equations and story problems.

  • In both Language Arts and Science we will continue to learn about the sun, moon, and stars. We are participating in a cycle of inquiry through literature and observation. Students are asking and answering text-dependent questions.

  • Our skills block this week will focus on open syllables in CV and CCV words such as funny, open, begin, and robot. Our high frequency words this week are funny, myself, and open.

Ask Your Firstie

  • Why do authors write about the sun and moon?

  • How many moons does the earth have?

  • What does the earth travel around?

  • Can you find the unknown in these problems:

    • 6 + 4=⬚

    • ⬚ = 8 + 1

    • 4 + ⬚ = 6

    • ⬚ + 7 =10
